A lengthy list of extremely popular, high-quality exhibits is no doubt part of the reason the Frist Center for the Visual Arts hit an attendance milestone this week.

At approximately 3 p.m. Thursday, Volunteer State Community College student Gena Lea Jones was the two-millionth visitor to enter the 9-year-old visual art center that occupies Nashville’s iconic Art Deco former main post office on Broadway.

Jones, who said she was visiting as part of an assignment for an art class, was presented with a “friend” membership to the Frist Center, a gift certificate, gift shop merchandise and a voucher for lunch in the Frist Center cafe.

The Frist Center opened April 8, 2001.
