Six weeks into his new job, Metro School Superintendent Dr. Pedro Garcia addressed 40 journalists, parents and educators in the Bell South Building Thursday and gave a preview of his expectations.

Hosted by the Society of Professional Journalists, the lunch meeting was a question-and-answer session between print and TV journalists and Garcia.

Garcia, who has already made several high-level administrative changes and did not rule out others, put several items on the table, including outlining a consistent dress code in Metro schools. Currently, Garcia said dress codes vary from school to school, and he would like to see a more defined approach across the board.

Similarly, in his drive to bring consistency to Metro schools, Garcia said he would like to see the same standards apply when a student-athlete transfers to another school across town, noting problems some of them are having.

Garcia underlined what he expects from the principals
