Beginning Tuesday morning, Granny White Pike will be reduced to one lane of traffic during the day to accommodate the relocation of a water line near the Richland Country Club in Forest Hills.
Metro police officers and flag persons are to be onsite to assist drivers, according to Metro Public Works spokesperson Gwen Hopkins-Glascock, but motorists are advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays and congestion.
The section of Granny White, one-half mile north of Old Hickory Boulevard, was also closed to traffic last month due to a pavement cave-in around a culvert. It was later re-opened after temporary repairs.
More extensive work on the stretch of Granny White is planned for early next week, requiring the road to be temporarily closed to traffic again. The public works department is scheduled to finalize plans by the end of this week.
