Green Hills mall attackers plead guilty

The two men responsible for robbing a teenager and stuffing him in the trunk of his car in the parking garage of the Mall at Green Hills in June pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts each of aggravated robbery.

Demonteice Henderson and Christopher Gross, both 21, received 15-year sentences.

According to Metro Police, Henderson and Gross approached 18-year-old Erin Thurman on June 2 while the teen stood outside his broken down Nissan Maxima in the parking garage near the Green Hills movie theater. Thurman told police the men held him at gunpoint, took his cell phone and wallet and forced him inside the car's trunk.

The suspects were quickly identified by police.

Gross allegedly used the victim's credit card a half-hour after the robbery, police said. He turned himself in on June 5. SWAT team officers arrested Henderson on June 11 after police received a tip regarding his whereabouts, police said.

Neither men were strangers to local law enforcement.

Gross was convicted of unlawful gun possession in June 2007 and was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days. He has also been charged by Metro officers six times this year with driving on a suspended license.

Henderson was convicted of felony cocaine possession for resale in April and received a three-year sentence that was reduced to probation.

On the same day as the Green Hills attack, the men also allegedly robbed a 28-year-old. They each faced an additional aggravated robbery charge stemming from the second incident.

Henderson and Gross each faced myriad charges stemming from the parking garage robbery. All other charges were dropped in exchange for the guilty pleas, according to District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Susan Niland.

We need to just start putting these animals down BEFORE they actually kill someone. 15 year sentences, my ass. They'll be out in three and probably kill someone before the end of the fourth.

I can not for the likes of me, understand why these low life scumbags have not been locked up with the key thrown away, a long time ago. Stop this plea bargain nonsense and try them before a jury, also, do not withhold any of the evidence from the jury.

On these two scumbags, the jury, if there had been one, should have known all about them and their previous run ins with the law.

Until we start telling the truth and quit this crazy political correctness, we will continue to be a corrupt nation and we will continue to go downhill as a culture.

Damn these criminals and corrupt judicial system.

Let's hope they do at least 5. They should be put to hard labor. Take out the f-ing weights in prison and put them to work to pay for their room and board. Lowlife maggots.

I live in Green Hills and I've noticed that since the Mall's makeover and all the new high-end stores, it's starting to draw a lot of trash in with it. As soon as the market recovers, I'm selling my house and moving out of this area. When I first moved here from New York, the crime seems to be pretty minor, but now it's starting to sound like a lot of crap that goes on in New York, which is one of the reason why I loved here for the peace. It's so sad people have to result to taking thing from others because they don't want to go to school, get and education and work their way up in life. They want it fast and easy and life just doesn't work that way.
