A gun was found in the jacket of a 17-year-old 10th grader at Hunters Lane High School this morning, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department. The jacket was in a classroom security cabinet.
The gun, a .25-caliber pistol, was unloaded. The student was arrested, and is being charged at Juvenile Court with carrying a gun on school property. The student denied the gun was his.
The gun was recovered due to a tip from a student — the tip was passed along from the school’s principal to officers assigned to Hunters Lane, who found the gun.
The Hunters Lane incident marks the second time this month that a weapon was reportedly found in Metro Nashville Public Schools. Earlier in November, an unloaded .22-caliber semi-automatic pistol was found in the trunk of a student’s car parked at Glencliff High School.
