Gun proposal backfires in House

State House Republicans are accusing House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh of unfairly pushing a gun rights bill back to a committee for another vote, though it already passed the panel Wednesday.

The bill, which is pushed by gun advocates to no avail every year, would allow citizens with gun permits to carry a weapon into places that serve alcohol as long as they abstain from drinking.

The bill passed the House Constitutional Protections subcommittee Wednesday on a voice vote. The committee is the very place the bill is killed each year
