Staff reports

The court hearing regarding Rep. Curry Todd’s arrest on DUI and gun possession charges has been pushed back until next month.

Police pulled Todd over late in the evening of Oct. 11 near the corner of 21st Avenue and Blair Boulevard. Following a field sobriety test, an officer charged Todd with DUI and possession of a handgun while under the influence.

A general sessions court hearing for Todd, a representative from Collierville, had been scheduled for Tuesday morning but is now set for Feb. 7.

A week after Todd's arrest, he stepped down as chairman of the State and Local Government Committee.

Oh good. Maybe I can make it out with my popcorn and my foam finger, to root for them throwing the book at him.

Moonglow1: put him in for life. He is a danger to society in many ways. Put him in Riverbend for life.

Anyone catch WHY he was allowed to reschedule his hearing? (Lawyer needs more time to come up with plan to get him out of this?)

One reason for a continuance may be that the judge on rotation is viewed as harsher than the judge on a later date. I don't know the rotation schedule for the 2 dates but it can be determined. The court internet site shows Todd's court dates but does not show the judge assignments. Might be interesting to know.
