The Tennessee Highway Patrol is asking for the public’s help in locating an SUV and driver that may be connected to a fatal motorcycle crash that happened on I-65 Saturday morning.

At approximately 8:51 a.m., Larry Ellison of Bean Station, Tenn., was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on I-65. As he exited on Harding Place, Ellison was thrown off his motorcycle. The 31-year-old was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died early Sunday morning.

The THP is looking for a black SUV with red dealer tags. Witnesses said the SUV was driving erratically down I-65 and cut across two lanes of traffic before striking the motorcycle in the exit lane, according to the highway patrol. Witnesses saw the driver of the SUV stopped momentarily then left the scene, heading west on Harding Place toward Franklin Pike, the highway patrol said. The SUV may have damage to the right rear.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Tennessee Highway Patrol at 741-2060.
