A historic picnic shelter in Edwin Warner Park will be taken apart with salvageable parts stored until funding is available to rebuild it. The 70-year-old shelter is leaning to one side and is about to collapse.

This week, friends of Warner Parks will take pictures and measurements of the shelter in hopes of rebuilding it as soon as funds are available.

Tim Walker, spokesperson for the Metro Historical Commission, said there are approximately 20 historic picnic shelters.
