The westbound ramp to Interstate 24 at Interstate 440, which has been closed since just after 1 p.m., is expected to remain closed for several hours while crews work to right a tractor-trailer that overturned.
When the rig, carrying industrial-sized rolls of paper, overturned on the I-440 ramp to I-24, one of the large rolls of paper fell from the overpass onto the roadway below and caused a secondary crash.
Officials said two people suffered non-critical injuries.
The crash was reported at 1 p.m. and expected to be cleared by 3 p.m., but it is taking longer than expected to right the truck and trailer.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation now estimates that the roadway should be cleared by 7 p.m.
I think this article is wrong. Looking at the TDOT pictures it is the ramp TO 440 @24 not to 24 as the article states twice.
That is correct. I just drove by there coming onto 440 from Murfreesboro Pike and it's blocking traffic coming onto 440 from I-24.
