Jackson-Garrison: Behind the dash

Cassen Jackson-Garrison was in the sixth grade the first time he was forced to find a place to sleep and food to eat.

It was a day that would be repeated frequently during the next three years, as a boy from Knoxville discovered life had dealt him a cruel hand.

On a summer day in 2005, 20-year-old Jackson-Garrison is practicing with the Vanderbilt football team as his family stands nearby under a tree, proudly watching their son, a sophomore tailback, score a touchdown.
