A man who barricaded himself inside a mobile home after police tried to serve him warrants has surrendered after a one-and-a-half-hour standoff.

Police said Dennis Dowling, 53, had apparently been drinking all night when officers, at 10:15 Tuesday morning, knocked on his door inside the trailer park at 231 Gifford Place in Joelton.

The Metro Nashville Police Department’s Special Response Team and SWAT team, along with a police negotiator, responded to the scene. Dowling surrendered to police just before noon.

Dowling was wanted in Jefferson City, Mo., for failure to appear on child neglect charges. Authorities in Jefferson City confirmed they would extradite Dowling.

Metro police also charged Dowling with being a fugitive from justice.
