Judge allows Ensworth to move burial ground

Ensworth School is allowed to move a 5,000-year-old Native American burial ground it found on its Bellevue property off Highway 100 during the construction work of a new high school.

Davidson County Chancellor Carol McCoy decided Friday the burial site was included in the original termination order, which was granted when Ensworth moved a historic cemetery earlier this year.

Representatives of the Alliance for Native American Indian Rights of Tennessee were allowed to testify. McCoy decided the alliance has two weeks to file an Amicus Curri, or friends of the court, brief.
