A Davidson County jury found suspected serial killer Bruce Mendenhall guilty Friday of three of the five murder-for-hire charges lodged against him.
The Illinois truck driver has been jailed in Davidson County since July 2007 when he was arrested in connection with the murder of an Ashland City woman found dead at a north Nashville truck stop.
Prosecutors argued that Mendenhall attempted to have five witnesses, including two police detectives, in his first-degree murder trial killed after attempts at finding an alibi failed.
Two former cellblock mates testified against Mendenhall during the week-long trial. One wore a wire to gather evidence for police. Audio files of his conversations revealed Mendenhall offering $15,000 to have three Kentucky witnesses killed.
