State Sen. Rosalind Kurita's battle against the Tennessee Democratic Party's executive committee is now headed to federal court.
United States District Judge Robert L. Echols has granted a motion by Kurita's legal team to hear her case on Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. Kurita has charged the party with violating her Fourteenth Ammendment rights by stripping her of her designation as winner of the Democratic Primary for the 22nd State Senate District.
When notifying the media of the ruling, Kurita attorney Jim Bopp broke down the legalese and told reporters simply, "The Motions to Expedite and Consolidate are granted. So the Oct 10th hearing will be the final trial on the merits."

All citizens should be hopeing she wins, whether you like her or not. This issue is really about whether your vote really counts or some entity other then a Court could overrule the will of the people without any basis/evidence in improper/illegal activity.
idgaf,I would agree if this were a general election. But, as a party primary, the exercise is really an internal election - the same a voting for party chairman or other party office. So, although I agree with you that I hope she wins, this is clearly not a crime in the same sense as the voter suppression techniques of the Bush Administration.
If that is your position then they should pay for their primary not the taxpayers.Once the taxpayers run and pay for an election, even if its a primary, then there are expectations of honesty and fairness.
dgamble, I agree with your point but, in this case, there is another side. This was a primary election for an uncontested seat. Essentially, the voters were selecting their Senator. The party whining about too many Republicans voting for Kurita doesn't hold water.id hits the nail on the head. If we paid for an election, the Democratic party is obligated to accept the results and honor the vote. In this case, the Democratic Party bosses are selecting the next Senator.
It doesn't matter who voted in the primary for the candidate, all votes determine the winner. If i am a democrap or a republican I can vote for ever who I want to represent me. When that is denied then I am not living in a democracy anymore.
