Linking Nashville youth with golf and Vinny

A goal to positively impact the lives of 500,000 youth by the year 2005 was announced last November by First Tee National Director Joe Louis Barrow Jr.

This week everything was put in place to see that thousands of those youngsters will be Nashvillians. The impact on their lives will come through VinnyLinks, a First Tee youth golf initiative on the site of the old Riverview Golf Course.

Thanks go not only to First Tee, a national program supported by the World Golf Foundation and other golf organizations and industries, but also to the Metro Board of Parks and Recreation, which provided land and public improvements, and the Tennessee Golf Foundation, which raised funds through private donations.

And a special thanks goes to country superstar Vince Gill, whose many contributions to junior golf and whose ongoing recognition of its importance in young lives, is at the foundation of this new program.
