The Lockeland Springs Neighborhood Association in East Nashville is donating its neighborhood kitty and some muscle to refurbish the exterior of one distressed house in the neighborhood. The plan, neighborhood association president Mike Jameson said, is to help one disadvantaged or disabled homeowner a year . The Lockeland Springs area saw its property values soar 28 percent last year, the largest leap in Davidson County.

Over weekend of Oct. 6 and 7, more than 30 volunteers will show up at the chosen owners
