A look at the religious mindset behind terrorism

The events of Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, will forever be etched in our minds. It had been my prayer that my children would never see a Pearl Harbor-type event. It is not to be.

The question that rises above all others is the same question that is asked when any type of tragedy strikes: Why? The answers to this question are varied. However, the root cause in this particular situation is extreme religious fundamentalism that has chosen not to co-exist with people of other beliefs.

Most world religions choose to co-exist peacefully with other world religions, even though there may be serious ideological and theological differences. But the conflict of Tuesday actually dates back to the conflict between Jews and Muslims
