Magdeburg poised to become Nashville

Today Mayor Bill Purcell will officially welcome a group of German representatives from Magdeburg who have been visiting Nashville for the past week as part of the Sister Cities program.

Sister Cities of Nashville is a non-profit organization that started about 10 years ago and promotes cultural exchange between Nashville and other cities.

The program is financed through membership contributions and private donations.

Nashville currently has ties to three sister cities: Caen, France; Belfast, North Ireland; and Edmonton, Canada.

Chairman Doug Berry hopes Magdeburg will eventually be added to the Sister Cities program.
