Nathan Daniel Neal was arrested Tuesday evening in connection to the shooting death of a man found Monday afternoon on a remote section of Brunett Road near Old Hickory Beach, Metro police said.
The body of Darius Turner, 26, of Lewis Street, was found dumped on the side of the road around 2 p.m. Monday by a security guard doing a routine check of the area, police said. Turner was carrying no identification and was identified by his fingerprints, police said.
Clues led investigators to Neal, 24, of Woodberry Drive, who police say admitted to Detective Johnny Crumby that he shot Turner inside Neal's car after a drug dispute.
Turner has prior felony drug convictions from 2003 and 2008.
At the time of the murder, Neal was free on $7,500 bond in relation to a 2007 aggravated assault charge, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Criminal Court Thursday on that case. He was also convicted of domestic assault in 2005. He'll be booked at the Justice Center for the murder charges.
