Man crashes car after he was shot

Metro Police are pursuing active leads in identifying the killer of Jamie L. Hopkins, who was fatally shot last night in North Nashville.

Hopkins, 39, was sitting in his Nissan 370Z on Clay Street near 12th Ave. N. at 9 p.m. Thursday night when police say he was approached by a black man with dreadlocks. The two began to argue, and Hopkins was shot.

Hopkins then drove away, but crashed a few blocks away at the intersection of Clay Street and Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Blvd. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.

The suspect is believed to be in late teens or early twenties, and was wearing a white t-shirt and black pants at the time of the shooting. He is 5 feet six inches tall and approximately 200 pounds.
