Metro police have arrested the man who allegedly kidnapped and raped a 16-year-old girl Monday morning before dropping her off at her school.

Herbert Allen Young has been charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated rape. Young is being held in lieu of $100,000 bond.

According to detectives, Young, 28, approached the victim — whom police said he knew through a mutual acquaintance — at a bus stop at Susannah Court and Dakota Avenue. Armed with a pistol, Young demanded the teenager get into his black Ford Explorer SUV.

Young then allegedly took the teen to a parking lot near his apartment where the two talked. Young, the girl later told police, took her inside his Southwood Park apartment and raped her before dropping her off at Hillsboro High School almost two hours after taking her from the bus stop.

Police officers spotted Young and the girl on West End Avenue as they were headed to the school and followed the SUV until Young dropped the girl off. Police then arrested Young off school property.

Police said Young is on probation related to a stalking charge in South Carolina. He is set to appear in a Nashville court for Monday’s charges later this week.

The only leadership Herbert Young needs is up the steps of a gallows.
