Poor lighting conditions seemingly led to the fatal scooter accident early Friday that killed 25-year-old Roger Seltzer.

Metro police said Seltzer, of Brick Drive, was driving home after work at 4 a.m. Friday on Brick Church Lane when his scooter hit a downed tree. The impact threw Seltzer off of the scooter, causing him to hit a large tree branch and land on a downed power line.

He suffered serious head trauma despite wearing a helmet, police said. The area where the accident occurred was very dark and the scooter’s light provided little illumination.

This has got to be the worst writing ever! Large tree branch? Downed power line? Are there tree branches and power lines all over Nashville roads? Is this something so common that it doesn't even raise an eyebrow? This writer presents the story with as much care as a public service announcement. Now wonder the City Paper is doing do poorly, it looks like they have already given up.
