Franklin Police and FBI agents are searching for a man who robbed the First Tennessee Bank in Cool Springs just after 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The suspect entered the bank, located at Bakers Bridge Avenue and Galleria Boulevard, approached a teller and demanded money, police said.
The robber, who was armed with a knife, threatened the clerk and implied that he had explosives, according to police. The clerk complied with the robber’s demands and was not injured.
Police say the suspect was last seen fleeing the area on foot, crossing the Bakers Bridge overpass that crosses Interstate 65. Franklin K-9 units and a Metro Police helicopter searched for the suspect who remains at large.
He is described as a light-skinned male with a thin build, approximately 6-foot-1 to 6-foot-3 inches tall. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a light gray and blue patterned zip-up hooded sweatshirt, an Atlanta Braves baseball cap with a red bill and the letter “A,” a white T-shirt, and light colored pants, police said.
Police say the suspect covered his face with some type of white cloth during the robbery.
“We’re hopeful that someone in the area saw this suspect running over the bridge from the scene and is able to provide additional information,” said Deputy Police Chief David Rahinsky.
Anyone with information is urged to call Williamson County Crime Stoppers at 794-4000.
