Man wanted in connection to downtown bank robbery

Metro police are searching for the man who robbed the Wachovia Bank at 230 Fourth Ave. N. this morning.

The suspect is a black man in his late 30s and approximately 200 pounds, police said. He performed the robbery in a blue button down shirt over a white T-shirt, as well as sunglasses and a white baseball cap with the letters "TN" on front, according to police.

The suspect entered the bank and gave a teller a demand note at 9:50 a.m.; after she complied he fled on foot, police said.
