Metro police are searching for two armed robbers who stormed a Whites Creek bank late Monday afternoon and held a security guard at gunpoint.
The masked suspects, described as black men wearing heavy jackets and ball caps, were armed with semi-automatic handguns when they entered First Tennessee Bank’s 4410 Whites Creek Pike branch, police said.
Tellers complied with the robbers’ demands and the suspects fled from the bank. Police said dye bombs exploded inside the getaway vehicle, a white late-‘90s model Chevrolet Trailblazer.
North Precinct officers and members of the FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force are investigating.
Anyone seeing the suspects flee the area of the bank, or anyone having information about them, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
