Metro Codes gets stricter on commercial buildings

The Metro Codes Administration will now be able to enforce commercial building regulations more strictly thanks to legislation passed in a 34-1 vote Tuesday night by the Metro Council.

Prior to the passing of the bill, crafted by Councilman-at-large David Briley, Codes had trouble forcing businesses to repair broken windows, fences in disrepair and other maintenance problems. The bill also gives officials more authority to regulate residential structures and properties.
