The leadership of the Metro Nashville Police Department’s new Madison Precinct continues to take shape following the addition of six lieutenants, a week after the appointment of a new commander.
Metro Nashville Police Chief Steve Anderson announced last week that Special Operations Division Captain Brian Johnson was appointed to the rank of commander for the Madison Precinct.
James Cardwell, Chris Gilder, David Mundt, Jason Proctor, Curtis Watkins, and Jason Wheeler were promoted from sergeants to lieutenants effective Dec. 16, according to a press release.
“Promotion decisions have become increasingly difficult in this police department due to the strong pool of excellent and very talented candidates,” Anderson said. “I have full confidence in the supervisory skills and dedication of (the) new lieutenants.”
The Madison Precinct is set to open on Jan. 1 and will staff roughly 60 officers. The former Peterbilt facility off Myatt Drive will house the new precinct and a new DNA crime lab.
