Metro Nashville Public Schools officials announced Monday 13 middle schools within the system will  have new principals this fall.

In addition to the principal changes, Dr. Sharon Yates and Amy Downey will become executive director of instruction and executive director of middle schools, respectively. Each brings more than 20 years of experience to her new position.

Monday's announcement follows the recent announcement of four veteran MNPS educators taking on new leadership assignments for the 2011-12 school year. Michael Flushman, current program assistant/ELL coordinator at The Academy at Old Cockrill, will become principal of The Academy, which is now located at Hickory Hollow Mall; Jon Hubble, current principal at Meigs Middle Magnet, will take the helm at Apollo Middle; Ronald Woodard, currently principal at Apollo Middle, will serve as executive principal at Maplewood High School; and Dr. Ronald Powe has been tapped as principal at Napier Enhanced Option Elementary School.

Congratulations to Ms. Downey. We are very happy to hear of her promotion, but are very sad that she will be leaving us at Dupont Hadley.

I'm so glad Mrs Downey is gone . She a awful person. She let the white kids call the black kids the N word and doing nothing about it . Did you hear about the black 7th grader who tried to kill himself this school year ,because the white kids kept calling him the N word. He thought he was a stupid N, so they put him in a mental hospital. Mrs Downey you are a awful person and i hope the truth come out about you.
