The Metro Public Works Department is seeking public input as it begins to spend roughly $15 million on sidewalk construction and repair.

Of the $15 million, Randall Dunn, acting director of Public Works, said roughly $3 million will be devoted to sidewalk considerations involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, such as removing curbs at crosswalks. The remaining $12 million will be used in three areas (ranked in terms of priority): construction of sidewalks near schools, completion of gaps and extensions and maintenance.

Already about $2 million in work orders have been issued, and several projects are underway, Dunn said.
