Jason Witczak gave up one dream job to pursue another.
Witczak, a two-time training camp kicker for the Tennessee Titans, put his job as a teaching golf professional and minor tour player on hold to be a kicker for the Nashville Kats.
Witczak has generally lived the transient lifestyle associated with kickers trying to make the jump from college to pro football. Over the past couple years, he has: spent two summers with the Titans, mainly to get exposure and experience; spent a spring abroad in NFL Europe; played in one Arena Football League game with the Arizona Rattlers.
But Witczak was using another athletic skill to make ends meet until another football opportunity presented itself. He is a golf professional with some limited experience on the Grey Goose Gateway Tour and also a teaching pro at Desert Ridge Resort in Phoenix.
That job sounds pretty good, but the chance to give football another try with Witczak, now five years removed from college at Southeast Missouri, was too tempting to pass up.
