Staff reports

Metro police Friday identified a murdered woman whose body they said was burned beyond recognition.

Through dental records, police identified the body of Saret Vit, 22, of Mainsail Lane in Hermitage. The autopsy suggests Vit was murdered before her body was set on fire.

A 911 caller at 9:25 Thursday night reported finding the body on fire in a field at the intersection of Brick Church Pike and Knight Road.

Police earlier told The City Paper they had an idea of who the victim was, therefore making it easier to quickly match dental records and move forward with the investigation.

Detectives from the North Precinct are working to develop suspects and a motive.

Saret Vit - What ethnic group is that name? Race may be a major factor in why this happened. I would like to hear from her family.

There was a posting on http://www.soyandina.com/weblog/2007/01/a_cambodianamer_2.html
by a Saret Vit from Nashville several years ago.

Quote: After reading Sarong's capativing story, it makes me want to visit Cambodia too. I am a first generation Cambodian-American, and this story inspired me to study abroad and study me roots like Sarong. I love you SISTER!!

Cambodian brought up in Nashville and at one point worked as a waitress at Nashville Airport. Couldn't find on internet where she was working when she died. Boyfriend and any ex-boyfriends should be talked to as any cousins/relatives. Who were her friends and were there any gang contacts. Tox screen on the body?

Saret was a friend of mine. We went to MTSU and graduated together with the same degree. She had such a huge heart for people, and no one who knew her understands why this happened. She was Cambodian and very close with her family. This is a horrific tragedy. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers.

From other source: She was working at Opryland Hotel? Large group on Cambodians have worked there for almost 30 years. I had the honor of working and socializing with them when I worked there 25 years ago. HARK WORKING and friendly and welcome to Nashville.

A parolee who had been dating this young woman has been charged with her death. He was seen the night of her death at her job and was found to have burn marks and scratches when interviewed by police . Good job Metro. Now to find out why this piece of trash was allowed parole?

Pretty young woman with great resume and promising life/career gets
involved with loser and criminal record. Could be a great lesson and
reminder for all others out there to screen your potential dates and
mates before getting too involved! Prayers to her family and friends.

I am so thankful that Metro caught Adrian.. Saret had a passion for justice, and it is only right that justice be served in her passing.

To clarify @unclesam328.. Saret did not work at Opryland Hotel.. It is still closed due to flood damage. She worked at a restaurant in the area. She was American born, daughter to Cambodian refugees, but your assumption was correct. Saret was a VERY hard worker, professional, and friendly. She had a heart for people, and she is and will be greatly missed.

I worked with Saret at her job that she was working at when she passed. She was a GREAT girl with a lot of future left in her. Why she would get mixed up with Adrian is something that I will NEVER understand, however you cannot help who you fall in love with. Yes he had a record but Saret had a GREAT heart and probably thought she could keep him on the straight and narrow. My heart goes out to the family becuase I know how CLOSE they were. To Adrian, I hope you have to sit in jail for life and think about what you did. The death penalty would be the easy way out for you. You need to suffer! Saret RIP we LOVE YOU!!!! You will be missed!
