Mayor Karl Dean is expected to announce plans for a new convention center hotel this afternoon at 1 p.m. at a news conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
According to a press release sent this morning from the mayor’s office, Dean is set to “make an important announcement regarding a major economic investment in downtown Nashville.”
The release doesn’t mention actual plans to announce a new companion hotel for the city’s new $585 million Music City Center, but observers have speculated Dean had intended to unveil plans for the new hotel today.
In July, the development group Tower Investments confirmed an agreement had been reached for Omni Hotels to purchase property directly south of the County Music Hall of Fame for a new convention center hotel.
