Nashville will join in a national day designated for celebrating America's kids with a citywide picnic from 1 - 3 p.m. Sunday.
The Boys and Girls Club of America launched the National KidsDay event in 2001 to emphasize the importance of spending time with kids and engaging meaningful relationships.
This year the Boys and Girls Club of Middle Tennessee will attempt to break the world record for the largest gathering by inviting the Nashville community to a Sunday picnic.
Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch to the Thompson Lane Boys and Girls Club, 67 Thompson Lane.
Coca Cola Bottling and Purity Dairy will provide refreshments for the first 500 attendees and all attendees will receive some school supplies from the Boys and Girls Club and Vanderbilt Children's Hospital.
Entertainment will include Nashville Predators mascot Gnash, the Tennessee Titans cheerleaders, face-painting, inflatable jumps and an instrument petting zoo.
Booths will also provide information on children's activities, health care and child safety.
