A Nashville man has been charged with criminal homicide after a woman died of strangulation during a consensual sexual act.

Michael Lewellen, 47, is being held on a $1 million bond after 26-year-old Ashley Lee died Thursday morning with a rubber cord tied around her neck. Lewellen told police the two were engaged in a consensual sexual act involving the cord, and that he left the room to answer his phone. He was gone only briefly, he said, but when he returned, he found Lee dead.

The two were at Lewellen's Rio Vista Drive apartment Thursday morning when Lee died.
