Nashville man indicted for allegedly murdering brother

A Davidson County grand jury indicted a north Nashville man last week for allegedly murdering his brother this summer.

Jesse Lee Coffey, 34, remains in jail on a $1 million bond after Metro police arrested him on July 14, accusing him of stabbing his younger brother outside the family’s home at 1047 Trinity Lane.

Witnesses told police that Michael Coffey, 32, and his older brother had been out drinking together earlier that day. The victim returned home without his brother, Jesse Coffey, who was later dropped off at the residence. But Michael Coffey told his brother he could not stay there.

Police said the brothers then got into a physical fight. Jesse Coffey allegedly went inside the home, retrieved a knife and fatally stabbed his brother in the chest in the front yard.

Michael Coffey died while being transported to the hospital. According to police, witnesses at the scene positively identified Jesse Coffey as the murderer.

Jesse Coffey is also currently serving 11 months and 29 days after failing to appear in court on a second DUI offense.

I'm tired of brothers killing brothers.

Was this knife registered with the proper authorities? Is the knife's owner liable for damages? Where did knife owner buy this kitchen utensil, and if so, was there a waiting period for knife purchase?

Real nice, courier. A young man is dead and you are worried about the style of cutlery involved in the incident?? Ok, he got it from Restoration Hardware in the Green Hills mall. Are you happy now??

Glad to post, crib. I have the same regard for seriosuness of this situation as the alleged killer has for his brother's life, sobriety and keeping court appearances.
