The Nashville Neighborhood Defense Fund — a group of neighborhood activists chaired by former Metro Councilman John Summers — has announced its endorsements for the council’s five runoff elections.

Endorsements are as follows:

• District 4 –– the group has endorsed Brady Banks over David Patterson

• District 5 –– the group has endorsed Scott Davis over Pam Murray

• District 6 –– the group has endorsed Peter Westerholm over Dave Rich

• District 13 –– the group has endorsed Marilyn Robinson over Josh Stites

• District 33 –– the group has endorsed incumbent Councilman Robert Duvall over Page Turner

The neighborhood defense fund says its chief goal is to elect officeholders who are committed to “protecting and preserving” Nashville neighborhoods.

Election day is Sept. 15.

Well they almost had it right, but dropped the ball in 33.

Congratulations to Peter Westerholm. I supported another candidate before the run-off, but when considering the two options in the run-off, I have been thoroughly convinced that Peter is the right choice. Peter's committment to the neighbors of District 6 -- and his service to them before he decided to run for this office -- is what separates him most from his opponent (and probably what swayed the Neighborhood Defense Fund).
