Arthritis Foundation teaches on illness

The Arthritis Foundation will hold an educational forum about arthritis symptoms and remedies from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Middle Tennessee Medical Center Amphitheatre.

Guest speaker Dr. Victor Byrd is an associate professor of rheumatology at Vanderbilt University. He will speak about rheumatoid arthritis and will answer questions. The forum is sponsored by Wyeth-Ayerst Pharmaceuticals and the Nashville branch of the Arthritis Foundation.

Red Cross holds many blood drives

The Nashville chapter of the American Red Cross will hold several blood drives this week:

Drives are scheduled from 9 a.m.-6:30 p.m. today through Thursday and 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday at Nashville Center, 2201 Charlotte Ave.; and from 1-6 p.m. today at the Wal-Mart store at 5520 Nolensville Road.

On Wednesday a drive will be held from 2-6 p.m. at Two Rivers Baptist Church, 2800 McGavock Pike.

Thursday drives will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at TriStar Financial, 3055 Lebanon Road, Building 3; from 4-8 p.m. at Amateur Radio, Lock Two Road; from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Fisk University, 1000 17th Ave. N.; and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Nashville Technological Institute, 120 White Bridge Road.

On Friday drives will be held from 7 a.m-5 p.m. at St. Thomas Hospital, 4220 Harding Road; and from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. at Glencliff High School, 160 Antioch Pike.
