Metro police start N.Y. relief fund

A relief fund has been established at the Metropolitan Police Department Credit Union for the families of New York police officers killed as a result of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11.

Contributions to the fund can be made through Oct. 9 by sending a check to New York Relief Fund, c/o Metro Police Credit Union, 306 Gay St., Suite 105, Nashville, TN. 37201.

All donations will be forwarded to the New York City Fraternal Order of Police chapter on Oct. 10.

Cancer center to hold luncheon

The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center will offer the 2001 Breast Cancer Health Forum, a series of free informational events and a luncheon-fashion show, during October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The luncheon will be Oct. 23, 12:30 p.m.-1:45 p.m. at the Loews Vanderbilt Plaza Hotel. The Frances Williams Award for Breast Cancer Awareness - named in honor of BMI
