Habitat seeks home volunteers
The Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity is looking for a family displaced by Hurricane Katrina to occupy a new home made possible by a $49,000 donation from a Nashville couple. The house is tentatively scheduled to be built in March. Qualifying families for the Habitat program purchase their homes at cost (usually $60,000-80,000) and repay the mortgage with no interest over a 20-30 year period. Additionally, families are required to accumulate "sweat equity" hours, earned through HomeWORKS classes, build site time, and community work or volunteering in some other aspect of Habitat operations, such as the HomeStore. To request an application or to receive more information about Habitat, call 254-HOME or visit www.habitatnashville.org.

Retriever group seeks donations
The Middle Tennessee Golden Retriever Rescue is requesting donations of items that can be sold by auction on eBay in March to raise funds to help pay veterinarian bills. Anyone with new or collectible items they would like to give for the auction should call 893-2649 or email s.cheek@gte.net. All of the money raised on eBay will go toward costs incurred in placing homeless Golden Retrievers into new homes. More information about the group is available at www.rescueagolden.org.
