Sevier neighborhood group to meet

Friends of Sevier Park, a neighborhood organization formed to preserve the Sevier Park Mansion and address park issues, will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at 1009 Montrose Avenue.

Anyone interested in preserving the mansion and discussing these issues is welcome to attend. For more information, call Todd McEachern at 269-4376.

Metro planners host open house Friday

The Metro Planning Department will host an Open House at its office, 730 Second Ave. S., 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, so citizens can look at the latest draft of the Metro Council redistricting plan.

This is part of the department's continuing effort to gather comments and concerns and to work out issues so planners present the best plan possible to Planning Commission members at their meeting on Thursday, Aug. 16.

Also, the Planning Department will have copies of this latest draft at the Main Library and on its web site at www.nashville.org/mpc. In addition, you can call Anita McCaig at 862-7156 to discuss the redistricting plan.

Junior Achievement ceremony tonight

Junior Achievement will host A Night of 1,000 Stars Volunteer/Teacher Recognition Prom at 8 p.m. tonight at the Nashville Convention Center.

It will commemorate the volunteers and teachers who participated in the Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee program during the 2000-01 school year.
