Is there any justice in the world?
Evidently not if you play football in the SEC. After a flag-free win over Eastern Kentucky, Vanderbilt ranks as the least penalized team in the league (31 penalties, 38.4 yards per game). The Commodores were similarly saintly last year, being sacked for just over 39 yards per game.
But look at the company Vandy (1-3 in the SEC) keeps at the top of that category. South Carolina (3-2), Arkansas (1-3) and Mississippi State (1-3) walk the line, but only the Gamecocks are prospering.
At the bottom are Florida (59.1 ypg), Auburn (63.1) and Georgia (65.9), three teams who are a combined 11-4 in the conference. Things that make you go hmmmm
