The Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) honored excellence in the nonprofit sector Wednesday with its annual Salute to Excellence Awards. Nearly 1,000 business, community and nonprofit leaders watched as the CNM Board of Directors handed out $92,000 in unrestricted grants. The money was awarded to nonprofit organizations in the Middle Tennessee region that have implemented exemplary management and leadership practices.
Kent Fourman, chief information officer for Gaylord Entertainment, chaired the event. He said nonprofits are sometimes considered not particularly effective at management, which is a misconception.
