Following a weekend accident that saw the driver of a tractor trailer miscalculate and topple some utility wires in downtown's SoBro district, officials are urging motorists to take caution as roads along the convention center work site perimeter are impacted by closed lanes, intersections with limited turning allowances and concrete Jersey barriers.
The accident occurred in the Demonbreun Street block between Seventh and Eighth avenues. The Eighth/Demonbruen intersection is particularly heavy with Jersey barriers, utility poles and power lines.
“For the next month or so, we’ll be working in the streets around the Music City Center site, including Demonbreun and Fourth Avenue South,” said Holly McCall, Nashville Convention Center Authority spokeswoman. “We’re working as quickly as possible to complete the work, but urge drivers to slow down and be cautious due to lane closures.”
Nashville Electric Service spokesman Tim Hill said the accident resulted in some felled phone lines and street light lines.
NES customers lost no power, Hill said.
