Overcrowded lake causes new TWRA safety effort

Percy Priest Lake has become so crowded the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency is creating a boating safety course in an attempt to prevent serious accidents.

The agency has already limited parking to try to handle the crowds of boat-owners who launch at the lake.

Danny Scott, assistant regional manager for the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency, said Percy Priest draws more boaters than other lakes in surrounding areas.

"There are more and more people on the lake every year," he said. "Especially on the Fourth of July and Memorial Day weekend
