Detectives are looking for a parolee who has been identified as a person of interest in the killing of a woman found dead March 30 inside a room at an Antioch Holiday Inn.

Jason Mitchell Ward, 32, is believed to have knowledge regarding the murder of Debbie Lynn Shearer, 53, who had recently moved into the hotel on Crossings Place, where she was discovered by her brother, police investigating the case say.

Ward is wanted on parole violation and theft warrants issued last week. He, who was last known to have lived on McClurkan Avenue, was paroled after serving time for theft convictions out of Shelby County.

Shearer was found after she failed to show up to her job at a Hickory Hollow Mall business, police said. Although there were no visible signs of trauma, the medical examiner has determined that she was killed, police said.

Anyone who sees Ward or knows his whereabouts is urged to contact South Precinct Investigations at 862-7763 or Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
