The Metro Beer Permit Board voted Wednesday to reject the application of an East Nashville beer market that has been at the center of recent controversy. If the application had been approved, the beer market at 400 South 10th St. would have been the seventh in the area.

Residents of East End and Historic Edgefield appeared at the initial application meeting to voice their concerns, but applicants Nabil Ahmed Bady and Abdulle Mohamed Alqahmi, did not attend the meeting. The application was deferred until Wednesday, which gave neighborhood spokesperson Whitney Kemper time to gather affidavits stating the new market was within 110 feet of a residence and a church that operates out of Marivuana Hempalot
