A 57-mile master plan for the banks of the Cumberland River, stretching from Old Hickory Dam to the Cheatham County line, includes miles of trails, riverfront plazas and interpretive educational features.

The Metro Parks and Recreation Department, Greenways Division, together with the Army Corp of Engineers, commissioned a local firm over a year ago to design the master plan for the Cumberland River. The Parks Department is now looking for a consultant to complete the overall master park plan for Davidson County, of which the river plan is a part.

The purpose of the plan is to use the river and its flood plains as a resource for the city
