SWAT officers assigned to the Metro Police Department’s Special Response Team Monday night arrested accused murderer Joshua Carter at 689 Lewis St.

Carter, 27, was unarmed at the time of the arrest, police said.

Carter is named in warrants charging criminal homicide and aggravated robbery for the May 6 shooting death of Jordan Gardner in a parking lot across the street from the Out of Bounds nightclub on Murfreesboro Pike. A witness to the shooting identified Carter as the alleged gunman, police said.

Carter, who has prior felony convictions for facilitation of second degree murder and possession of cocaine for resale, is now jailed in lieu of $1.2 million bond.
