Metro police arrested 20-year-old Michael J. Allen Monday night and, charging him with the October shooting death of Neil Patel, 25.

Acting on an indictment for first-degree murder and especially aggravated robbery, police conducted surveillance on Allen’s house at 437 Rockwood Drive. SWAT officers assigned to the Special Response Team later moved in to arrest Allen after he arrived home.

Officers found Allen hiding in a storage space underneath stairs leading to the home’s basement. Police also charged him with vandalism for allegedly trying to kick the rear window out of a police car.

Police believe Allen shot and killed Patel during a robbery at Patel’s Central Pike apartment in October.

A Criminal Court judge set Allen’s bond on the indictment at $750,000.
